For the fourth straight year, Brookfield Asset Management took the top spot on the rankings on the Forbes World’s Largest Public Real Estate Companies’ list.
The Canadian firm boasts close to $700 billion in assets under management, including more than 400 million square feet of office, hotel, residential and retail space, but it also invests in renewable energy and infrastructure.
As one of the world’s largest investors in real estate, Brookfield owns, operates and develops iconic properties in the world’s most dynamic markets. Its global portfolio includes office, retail, multifamily, logistics, hospitality, land and housing, triple net lease, manufactured housing and student housing assets on five continents.
Office: Brookfield develops and managse office properties in key gateway cities in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Germany, Australia, Brazil, India and South Korea. It currently has 318 properties, with 167,000,000 square feet of commercial space.
Retail: Brookfield’s high-quality retail destinations are central gathering places for the communities they serve, combining shopping, dining, entertainment and other activities. It is currently present in 179 locations, predominantly in the U.S, totalling 154,000,000 total square feet.
Multifamily: Brookfield’s extensive multifamily portfolio makes it one of the largest owners and managers of residential apartment properties in the U.S. with ownership stakes in approximately 58,000 apartments.
Hospitality: Brookfield owns and actively manages full-service hotels and leisure-style hospitality assets in high-barrier markets across North America, the U.K. and Australia. It includes 16 full-service hospitality properties, 140 extended-stay hotels, totaling about 31,000 rooms.
Other assets: Brookfield drives value in high-quality assets in other sectors such as logistics, triple net lease, manufactured housing and student housing by focusing on leasing, financing, development, construction and facilities management. Currently, it owns 159 student housing properties and 306 triple net lease assets.
